If you don't want to cook New Look Cafe, Parua Bay provides wonderful curries and will deliver or enjoy Fish & Chips from the chippie at McLeouds Bay, alternatively you can dine at the Deck located next to the chippie. The Deck also provides milk, Herald and a few other basics.
Ocean Beach is a 10 minute drive for those who love to surf or simply enjoy an ocean swim. Many local beaches for more serene swimming. Many walks, Mt Manaia, Mt Aubrey, Smugglers Bay to name a few.
Manaia Willow is nearly 100y old, set in almost an acre with amazing views to the very majestic Mt Manaia. You feel like you are in the middle of the countryside, very quite, although you may hear many birds including kiwi calling at night and this is the reason we don't allow pets, in fact it is discouraged by our local council to not allow dogs in the area due to our area being a Kiwi habitat
Whangarei is a fast developing city and many improvements. to enhance the area. The loop is a great walk with nearby playgrounds and bike parks for younger people. Stroll around the basin and enjoy the many cafes or visit the Hundertwasser, Burning issues art centre and watch the amazing artisans blow glass. Clock Museum and take time to be mesmerised by the Whangarei rolling clock ball, a truely interesting time piece.
