On a summer’s evening, the garden is the perfect spot for a barbecue whilst looking out over the harbour and to the sea beyond. There are two bedrooms on the first floor, as well as a large shower room. Moving up to the second floor, there is a spacious bedroom with three single beds.
The Western Fells and coastline can easily be explored from Whitehaven. Taking in the beauty of Scafell Pike, England’s highest peak, is like stepping into Wainwright’s shoes as you choose one of his famous walks. The peak gives stunning views, and on a clear day you can see as far as the Isle of Man. Maybe you would prefer to visit one of the many lakes in the area for a wild swim, or enjoy a pleasant day sailing on the clear waters.
A day at the seaside can be enjoyed at the lovely beach of St Bees, or maybe you fancy a bit of shopping at Whitehaven with its collection of independent shops. You can even buy fresh fish straight from the fishing boats at the working harbour. Other attractions include the Beacon Museum and The Rum Story, set in an original 1785 warehouse, and tell the story of the rum trade. However you like to spend your time, there’s sure to be something for everyone.
