Plus is location. Unfortunately they chose to do a construction project directly below our room in the evening while we were trying to sleep and the nose was bad. Our room refrigerator did not work and overall the room and general condition of hotel is a bit worn and tired.

The service by the staff was impecible, the view was incredible out of our window and it's totally central so you can pop in and out and feel part of the city. It has an old fashioned charm whilst being neat, friendly and efficient. Well worth it.

The location is great but that was the only good thing. First the property didn’t have a bartender.. okay so that was okay to just sit while our reservation was found. Then we asked for our room to be. Learned of the MANY cobwebs in the corners of the room.. I had to storm down and demand it be taken care of immediately to get it done after 3 requests. Then at 7 am we were woken by the construction noise on property. The staff was nice but very young and inexperienced.

Last minute booking as we decided to stay overnight instead of heading home. Reception were a bit rude as we asked if the rooms would come down in price as it was gone 3pm, they suggested we sleep in the basement with the bikes. We booked through Expedia for a reduced price. loud thumping music for a few hours which went on until very late. Maybe a nightclub or venue nearby? We will not use this hotel again.

We stayed for 3 nights. Excellent staff and very comfortable bed. Delicious breakfast. The location is perfect, the view from our room was Winchester Cathedral. Parking is reasonably priced at the hotel but you need to get there early as the car park is not very large Definitely would stay again.

I loved the view of the cathedral and the friendly service from the staff. As the hotel is undergoing a refurb in certain areas the dining facilities had to go to a suite. In the circumstances I thought a good service was maintained. Will give you another try if I come again

In nearly 40 years of travel, this is without question the most run-down hotel I have ever stayed in. The property is in appalling condition and should not be operating in its current state. The bathtub was stained and surrounded by rust. The carpets were filthy. The bedding was worn. The heating unit was broken, with only a space heater shoved in the closet as a substitute. Even the phone didn’t work—the dial tone came through, but none of the buttons responded. The key card was a constant nuisance, failing after just a couple of swipes and requiring repeated trips downstairs to be recharged. Every corner of the room gave the impression of neglect. As if that weren’t enough, one evening after returning from entertaining, I found the front door locked. I rang the buzzer and had to wait 20 minutes before anyone came to let me in. When they finally did, they were completely unapologetic. The next morning, I complained to the manager about this incident as well as the deplorable state of the room, and he actually dismissed me by suggesting I was “probably drunk” when I came back. That level of rudeness and disregard for guests is beyond unacceptable. This was a horrific experience overall. After the first night, I considered leaving but convinced myself I could tolerate it for one more night. I now deeply regret not walking out the moment I saw the condition of the room. My advice: keep as far away from this place as possible. It should be condemned.

Comfortable beds, great walk into town, easy check-in if their car park is full, there is another over the road. We stayed for one night - easy for a quick stay for the weekend.

I stay regularly at this property and the standard has been falling. This time the room had not been cleaned properly and the reception desk was only manned intermittently. Also tissues In room no longer supplied and loo paper much cheaper. On previous visits I have noticed that the unattended back entrance is permanently open and taken with the empty front hall, security is non existent. I had the sense that the hotel is struggling and hope that I am wrong as the rooms with a cathedral view are pleasant. (NB the view is obscured for some rooms when trees are in leaf).

Service from young man on reception was good Hotel in dire need of major refurbishment/ repair. Very dated gives impression not much spent on the place for many years Car Park £15 per night assuming you can find a spot. Breakfast Buffet expensive at £17.50 per head (plenty of much better options available within walking distance, recommend Josie’s). Not considered to be above 2-3 star rating but charging 4- 5 star prices

Stayed in room 230 and found hotel very dated. No water available in room and stain on bedding. Bathroom shower awful as ceiling very low so shower head was low down.

Room was acceptable for one night. No air conditioning but a fan was provided - the room was very warm and the fan quite noisy overnight. Dated decor and significant wear and tear in the bathroom. Plenty of plug sockets but no usb ports in the room. Complimentary toiletries (shampoo, conditioner and shower gel) were good quality. Central location, less than two minutes walk from the high street.

It was raining and very later, we were tired of trying to find this hotel. The receptionist said she couldnt help us find it at all. Same lady Fara wouldnt open the door to let my husband me and our baby in, though it was cold and raining. Despite me telling her i wanted to book a room because i saw rooms available online, she said no rooms available, go to travelodge oppoisite. She said I could book online if I wanted to, so i did but she still wouldnt let us in! Even though i showed her on my phone. She stood there arguing it takes time for the booking to come through and she needs to wait before letting us in. We asked her why she wasn't checking and she decided to go to the computer. Finally she let us in and then we waited longer, after which she contacted someone to give us a emergency room. Having a 11 week yr old with me made no difrerence, she was adament not to open the doors and she took no responsibility for treating us in this way. I am appauled at her behaviour. She said we could have been drunk and before us there were drunk people around. She also said everyone is the same, thats how we treat them. The manager was spoken to in the morning. He defended her and said this is our policy we have done nothing wrong. But the conversation resulted in him refunding the parking charge. Ive never been treated like this before by hotel staff. Other than this the mugs in the room were dirty. Zak offered outstanding customer service and went out of his way
