“It is evident the owners have sought to make an upscale place to stay, with little touches (like a nicely decorated lobby with massage chair or the heated bidet toilet seat). When we stayed, there were only another 2 rooms occupied. It was quiet in the room, except for highway noise due to a gap in the window at top due to a good window AC unit. A towel wedged in that gap, plus forcing the AC fan to stay on made for a quiet night's sleep). The house was apparently built in 1881. I wish I knew……

“It was clean and bed was comfortable. The most amazing part is the small lake right outside the room. We saw swans with babies, Canada geese with babies, an otter, a couple turtles, a couple of cranes, that was amazing! You can tell the hotel is older and the owners are maybe newer and trying to make it. The hotel could use updating but it was clean and comfortable. Person who checked us in, maybe owner, was very nice and efficient. Would stay here again. Close to Indiana Dunes National……

“I grew up about a mile away from the property and the trip was booked last minute to attend my grandmother’s funeral. Given the somber nature of the trip, all the features of the property (the swing set, the game room, the spaciousness of kitchen/family room/ and bedrooms) really gave us an escape. “The Blue Bird House was perfect for our brief stopover near Indiana Dunes to visit with friends. Communication was excellent! Check in and check out was easy-peasy!
