Fifth time to this resort and it never disappoints. The property/pools/beach are amazing. We had a few seaweed free days and really enjoyed the beach and snorkeling … lots of fish and turtles. Will be back again.

El problema que tienen es que la playa tiene unas rocas muy filosas, seria bueno que las movieran para seguridad del turista, y otra cosa, les faltan letreros para indicar dónde se encuentran las cosas como el lobby, comedores etc. Finalmente, los restaurantes a la carta, siempre estan llenos, o sea, no se puede hacer ni reservación, parece que ofrecen algo que no pueden dar.

El trato del personal en general es bueno, la comida es muy repetitiva pero en general muy bueno, lo que no me pareció es que a las 10 de la noche estén limpiando mi habitación, primera vez que me toca que limpien tan tarde y que aconsejen a su personal sobre todo los del bufete a ser más respetuosos con los comensales, un huésped pregunto lo que había y le contestaron ahi está escrito.

We went with a group of 10. We emailed and called ahead of time and were able to get all our rooms close to eachother and 2 joining rooms. The resort is beautiful. The staff work hard to meet all your needs. There are plenty of options food wise. The steak restaurant was amazing. We used Mexican Travel Solutions with no issues. We confirmed our transportation plans before our drop off/pick up dates and there is a rep on site (Colonial). Our trip was amazing-it is what you make it-we always have a great time!

This Barcelo Maya resort has 6 lobbies/properties. When checked in upon arrival at theTropical, they could not find our name and said they reserved the rights to switch us to another property, which was Caribe. We were told everything should be the same. Based on our experience, Caribe was a bit older than Tropical. There are multiple drop in buffets and snack bars, including 5 formal restaurants. You can only book 4 maximum per stay and before 3pm. Overall quality and services were great. It takes a few days to get comfortable with the navigation around the resort. There’s bus services onsite to go from one property to another. However, the biggest feedback for the resort is to have more signages to guide guests and direction destination on the bus. One time it took us 30 minutes to travel by bus just from Caribe to Tropical, when walking would've only take less than 10 minutes. This is because the buses have no direction indicator to tell you which direction they are traveling, and they could take you for a loop before going to the destination of choice. Staff are friendly and most can speak basic English. Internet WiFi is good throughout the resort, even at the pool and beach areas. Excursions can be booked on-site and the staff was helpful. Free water activities must be booked on the same day where lineup starts at 8:30am.

The property is huge and clean. Swimming pool was not overcrowded even though there were alot of people around. We stayed at Barcelo Maya Tropical. Check in process was quick and easy but were not offered a room upgrade or any kind of accommodation for a special celebration. Our room was outdated. Shower tub was not draining well and water pressure was so low. Pool service was poor and understaffed. They have a big bar but only 2 bar tenders sometimes 1. Its location was far and inconvenient. The drinks were too sweet and watered down alcohol. It feels like your drinking juice rather than margarita. Food is the same everyday and no other variety of cuisine. The worst part is ala cart dinner reservations were limited. You were only allowed 2 reservations on a 4 night stay. Which unfortunately was not available until our last 2 nights. They didn’t even try to accommodate our request on a 3rd night for a birthday celebration. Overall, it was an ok experience. Nothing so special about the service other than a great view, great entertainment at the theater and cheaper activities than any other places.

We liked the all included meals & beverages. It was our first time in this hotel & we liked the connecting walks to the other hotel nearby. The hotel was very beautiful with views from the ocean to the swimming area. Very clean, Very kind & friendly people. We loved the shows. We did not like that we were unable to take food to our hotel room or to the pool area especially on the late nights after touring the city.. Not enough options for room service.. Also, had a very scary moment a few days ago. While we were at lunch at Barcelo Tropical, Mariachi grill. another The people sitting next to the table we were sent too took my personal bag while I left it behind to go get food from the buffet. My room keys, phone, glasses & personal items were in that bag! Those people clearly saw me from the moment we arrived & took advantage to take my belongings. Thankfully my 11 year old daughter spotted my bag & I took it away asap!! The tourist people were not trustworthy & they left the minute I got my bag. I failed to report the problem to the hotel because I did not know. I hope there are cameras all over for the safety of other tourist especially in the swimming areas.

My family and I loved the resort. There was so much to do and the staff was so nice and accommodating. We stayed for six nights and could only eat at 3 of the restaurants. We would like to have been able to book more restaurants instead of the buffet. I would definitely recommend this resort.

I would like led better communication on where stuff was and how to get to place like the mall. Didn’t know there was drink menu until my last day. Muy agradable todo el hotel. La comida en los restaurantes de reservación estuvo excelente. Solo les sugiero que el volumen en los espectáculos de los teatros sea mas bajo, en las habitaciones cercanas a estos se escucha muy fuerte y habemos personas que nos dormimos temprano. El gimnasio muy bonito, solo les hace falta arreglas las elípticas. En general un excelente hotel. Nos quedamos con ganas de regresar. Esperemos verlos nuevamente el próximo año.
