Loved the unique features - a free snack pantry (sweets, drinks, fruit etc.), traditional record player in each room and records to pick and choose from, quirky but tasteful decorations. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Very comfortable, clean, spacious bedrooms and bathrooms with easy to use push button bath/shower (no trying to work out which knob or lever to push or pull!), very comfortable underfloor heating in the bathroom. If you’re staying in York, seriously—stop searching. This place is a gem. My partner and I were initially a bit unsure because the building looks quite old from the outside, but we were quickly blown away by the attention to detail inside. The room was thoughtfully stocked with everything we needed and more—nice amenities, a turntable for some cozy vinyl vibes, and a pantry area with a great selection of snacks and drinks. The shower had surprisingly good pressure (which we really appreciated), and everything was spotless. Housekeeping came by daily to freshen things up and restock, which made the whole stay feel really well cared for. All in all, it was such a lovely stay—comfortable, charming, and way beyond what we expected.

I’ve stayed in their sister hotel No42 in Margate a couple of times and it’s excellent. Well No1 York did not disappoint it was beautiful friendly and luxurious! I love this little group of hotels and can’t recommend highly enough! One rue of thumb for me with hotels is how much the staff are invested and seem proud to work there and they do in spades here. Just fabulous, I’ll be back.

A wonderful Hotel just slightly away from the centre of York, but very, very walkable from the station and anywhere you might like to visit. The staff were engaging, wonderfully helpful, the room was perfect and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again in the future. Other touches like the "Pantry" and convenient onsite parking made it a real joy to stay.

Brilliant location just far enough away that it is nice and quiet but within a close commute to hit all major areas of interest. Beautiful restaurant and bar within the hotel, very comfortable and stylish decor. The only downside I would say is it was let down but having dogs in the lounge area when going for a drink before dinner. I know many people like this, and like the opportunity to bring their pet everywhere but personally felt it brought the atmosphere to a more country pub with dogs lying around. Staff were exceptional, very helpful and informative. Parking came at a cost which is to be expected however it would be a good gesture to have this readily available for guests then pay for additional time after check out if needed. The pantry was a wonderful feature, very unique and a welcome treat after a full day and night out in York. Rooms are small but very well utilised, warm and well decorated with lovely little touches and attention to detail. Would absolutely stay again.

Lovely two night stay. Charming rooms which were dog friendly, additional charge applied. Large freestanding bath and separate rainfall shower. Tuck shop with fab goodies free of charge. Booked and paid for on site parking which was convenient. Short walk into the centre of York. Would recommend!
