“House was clean and lawn was mowed. Those are the positives.Landscaping is untended and overgrown everywhere. Entrance to the house is through the garage which is still half filled with trash. Hot tub abandoned, gas fireplace disconnected. Pool is gone and the deck has a slapped together fence where the pool used to be. It is clear that the owners/management company did as little as possible to turn this from a home to a rental, left a bunch of random stuff in the garage and basement and……

“The house is well-maintained and a great spacious landing pad for exploration around MDI. A boat rental and launch just a few doors down offers paddle boards and a place to swim. We used those along with the home’s kayaks. Felt like it was the perfect thing to stay close to Bar Harbor but not in it, and being on Long Pond (much warmer water than Acadia’s ocean beaches) was a huge bonus. The full kitchen was very useful. Would love to stay here again.”

“Nice new apartment upstairs of the garage. It’s a spacious single room (except the bathroom of course), nicely laid out with pleasant lighting through windows looking out towards the trees. The “kitchen” is minimal: a dorm-sized fridge, microwave, toaster oven, water kettle and coffee maker. Sufficient for our needs but not enough for an extended stay. Given that the rental is a one-room studio with laminate flooring, the pet fee seemed a bit steep, but the apartment itself was a good bargain……

“It was quiet, comfortable, private, clean. What a peaceful and gorgeous location! The setting is jaw-droppingly beautiful. Our host was very helpful with dinner reservations. There was much attention to detail -- special towels in the bathroom, wood and lighting materials for an evening fire by the water. This was a wonderful stay, and I plan to return in the future. ”

“Perfect location for downtown shopping and dining. Comfortable and well appointed. Short drive to many nearby attractions. Very private and quiet despite somewhat busy spot. Good parking. Historic quaint building modernized to optimize experience. ”

“We had a wonderful stay at Quietside Cottage. We loved the quiet street for our kids to walk and ride bikes on; we loved proximity to town to be able to walk to ice cream, coffee, and restaurants. We loved proximity to hiking in Acadia, and swimming at Echo lake. We loved proximity to the SW bus stop to be able to get to Bar Harbor without a car. In terms of the house itself, the three season room was our favorite place to be - very comfortable for our kids and for us. The bedrooms were small……

“Very beautiful house and super clean. The street was a bit busy and it was tricky getting in and out with the traffic at times. The one shower was a bit tight and the initial wifi set up necessitated a 30 minute call with customer service. But overall, it was a nice property and experience.”

“This room is perfect for someone who is traveling or needs to stay the night on passerby travel. Very simplistic, but as long as you’re okay with minimals, it’s worth it. The host is very kind and helpful. The only thing (I’m sure you can ask if you need to) is first pulling up to the room, it’s a little further back down the driveway on the right. Other than that, perfect.”
