“Terrible experience at this hotel, i had booked a room with a river view, upon my arrival I was allocated a cube room, with no window and a partitioned balcony. I queried this and noticed that they gave my room to their frequent guest and I had to suffer as am not a regular at the property. I was later given a room which had a small window still not the room I had booked and paid for. Just when i though I had all the terrible experience the dinner was even worse i could not swallow their wings……

“Have stayed in Upington several times before but first time we have stayed at Browns Manor. Fully deserves 4 star rating. A green oasis in the Kalahari - massive koi carp a reap bonus. Staff really kind and helpful. Nice clean pool with shaded area and loungers. Good quality breakfast included.”

“Both my fiancé and I love adventures and we have no problem with living under local conditions and circumstances such as in the Kgalagadi like showering with salt water, being some days without WiFi and any other connection to the outside world, etc. But what !Xaus offers is simply a rip-off! Serving greasy pork belly on Christmas Eve with a cold soup as a starter, needing to pay for drinks at lunch and dinner, having no fridge with cold drinks available and no AC in the cottages, being provided……

“Amazing stay in this semi-desert location! Hospitality was outstanding. We went on 2 breathtaking game drives (1 drive to see the orange river and Namibian mountain range and another sunset drive). The annex room was luxurious, very peaceful. Food was delicious although I would have preferred some karoo lamb for dinner given we were in the northern cape (personal preference. Whatever we did eat was nonetheless tasty). Thanks for an amazing, memorable stay!! ”

“Rooms full of mosquitoes but no repellent or mosquitoe nets yet the hotel is besides a river, smelly rooms something wrong with the plumbing, noise from the road, fake lawn instead of carpets inside the rooms, fake chandeliers, doors that do not lock properly, waiting for 2 hours before being checked in. The is no 24 hour reception there. The one who does the checking in does not stay at that hotel, you will have to wait till she comes to check you in. Had this other occupant saying that that……
