“Previous reviews vary and it is fair to say the property is fairly dated and could do with some work, HOWEVER, the charm of the property and the exceptional service make up for this and more. We are well travelled and have stayed in some exceptional hotels around the world but the friendliness and especially the service was as good as any. “The actual hotel is really very good and the rooms are outstanding. Nice grounds, nice pool and the food was also of a decent quality. Now on a road trip around South Africa, you get used to warnings about safety and taking care of belongings. Here we were welcomed with a lengthy delivery on all the steps the hotel was taking and what in turn we needed to do, which even by SA standards appeared a bit alarming, so made you think the surrounding area must be a huge 'worry'. “We enjoyed our two night stay, staff worked hard to please us. Rooms are comfortable and bathrooms nice. Well supplied with coffee, tea and milk etc complimentary sherry and rusks. “Hawksmoor House ist ein klassisches, 300 Jahre altes Capholländisches Bauerngehöft. Wir waren zuerst im Herrenhaus untergebracht, dann in einem Nachbargebäude. Beide Zimmer waren ausserordentlich schön. Der Service war sehr freundlich. Zu bemängeln gab es nichts. Allerdings sollten Reisende wissen, dass die Anfahrt über einen unbefestigten Weg erfolgt. Wifi gibt es nur im Herrenhaus. Nach einer Corona-Pause könnte hie und da die Fassade frisch gestrichen werden. Aber dies sind wirklich winzige……

“Unique property for an overnight stay. Enjoyed the extra touches especially the hot water bottles for a cold African night. We were able to leave our bags safely prior to check in while we went to the Cape, then our room became available so we had an unexpected early check in which was above and beyond. Thank you!”
