I was concerned that the neighborood on the dock might be a whoop-it-up loud all-night-long kind of party crowd (and I am VERY boring), but everyone was going-out-of-their way charming and kind. “Ensure you have AWD or 4WD and good tires. It’s a 10 miles drive on a very muddy/gravel, low maintained road with lots of holes. There were several times my van almost got stuck and I was sliding all over the road. The tree and water fountain were very cute but there were 2 dead mice around the bottom of the tree, inside the cabin. The road/driveway outside of the cabin was pure mud deep mud. “We were coming in to town for a funeral. Less than 3 hours before check in the booking was cancelled. Just not ideal. I understand if there were issues but please let us know farther ahead. We drove 4 hours in for the funeral and were already in town. Also, communication was incredibly difficult as it was not routed to the host but through some third party intermediary called Evolve. I tried both calling and texting the host the evening before to confirm details. No response until Evolve……

Very cozy house with plenty of place and amenities. You get the feel of being in the country with the farm across the street but the convenience of being in town. We enjoyed the meat/cheese tray, and fruit/veggie tray left in the fridge for us by the host. We had a great time staying at the house with family from Minnesota……

“Staying in the houseboat was an adventure. We had a few hiccups in the check-in process but the hosts were very responsive and everything was sorted out very quickly. The houseboat was made in the 60s so some things were as I expected and some things such as the heating was not. The first night of the stay the temps dropped down into the 30s and the boat was COLD! “Booked on a whim to get away for a couple nights along the Mississippi and this seemed like the right fit. We weren't looking for anything extreme, just something comfortable and near the water. This certainly checked the boxes! The host was wonderful and very accommodating to allow us to bring our pup along for the fun. Close to some great wineries and breweries. If you've never experienced the Mississippi River's unique tempo, this is perfect. The train trestle was visible right from the back……
