“The cottage is a treasure and the island is beautiful. Wonderful views of herons and other wildlife always outside the back windows! Our family of six (including four teenage boys) stayed comfortably at the house. It felt like borrowing a friend's well-stocked vacation home. Plenty of kitchen gear and dishes for cooking (which we used several nights). Things to consider: to access the Gloucester Point area, you must cross a draw bridge. “The cottage was in the perfect location for our visit to Yorktown. Once there we really didn't have to drive much. It is easy to walk down to the water, to the battlefield and the American Revolution Museum. We walked to restaurants and shops. The trolley that does a loop has a stop directly across from the cottage. The cottage had nice places to sit outside, plenty of room in the living area. “Rental had not been cleaned since the last tenant which was a week prior to my rental dates. Immediately upon entering the home I was meet with a stench and stiiffling heat of 84 degrees from the lack AC. The heat had been on since the last tenant. Upon inspection dishes were left in the sink, dish soap bottle empty, used sponge, laundry in the washer, bed were made by the last tenant but clearly slept in, floors here covered in grit a combination of sand and food from a child, a binkie under a……
