“We chose this hotel because it was an hour from Santander and just off our main route from Portugal to the ferry port for the UK. Lovely town with impressive old centre and lovely riverside walks. Lively market the day we arrived (Tuesday). Be aware that self-parking is actually free on-street parking but area seems very secure so we left most of our extensive contents in car and had no problem. Also,hotel restaurant non-functioning so sought dinner in town and nowhere open until 9pm. But……

“En general la casa Roja de Canduela está bien, tener en cuenta que por el tipo de edificación y por las paredes de piedra la limpieza no es buena, pero es lo esperado. Se echa de menos algo más de iluminación en la casa, y un poco más de potencia en la calefacción. El entorno es precioso, existen muchas zonas interesantes en lo alrededores para visitar, y si buscas tranquilidad la vas a encontrar.”

“This hotel was an overnight stop off between the coast of Asturias and Rioja. It was very affordable. It did not have the charm of the old buildings but everything we could wish for was there. The food was cheap and very good. The breakfast was enjoyable. The service was good. No complaints. Great Value for money”

El entorno es inmejorable : Naturaleza, cerca del rio… en un pueblo con algún bar (a 5 min del alojamiento ), tienda de ultramarinos y panadería- quesería pegando a la casa. “Wonderful traditional hotel in a stunning part of the Picos de Europa. Getting there is an event in itself; after you've passed through magnificent scenery, you're faced with a winding road to the top of the mountain, passing through two tunnels. Once there, you're on the edge of a charming village, and although the hosts speak little English, we both got by with the help of Google Translate! The hosts do everything they can to make you feel welcome and at the heart of a traditional Spanish……
