“What a wonderful stay we had! The house was so comfortable with plenty of space for everyone to relax and enjoy each other's company. We enjoyed the brisk mornings on the porch and the gorgeous sunsets in the evenings. Very comfortable beds and linens. The scenery and landscape in the area are breathtaking. Every turn provided another incredible view of the water. Fishing Creek is close to so many beautiful, quaint towns along the Chesapeake Bay. Highly recommend!”

“We wanted a low key place to use as a base for exploring the Eastern Shore, and this was a great spot! An hour or so from almost everything you might want to do, and Deal Island is a relaxing place in its own right, with a little beach and pleasant views of the bay.”

“Clean and accommodating host. Has many of the necessities for the home, including washer/dryer , soaps , trash bags , cleaning essentials , plates/bowls/cups, kitchen gadgets , and more. Home feels safe away from predator animals . Couple deers around. Bring insect repellent.”

“We had a lovely time on this trip. The house is spacious and the yard/location is great. The kitchen needed a few more things that we could have used but overall we would definitely return. There are no stores nearby so buy everything you need before arriving. You will not regret coming to this house. We made a lot of memories and enjoyed every minute. Laura is a great host who ensured we had everything we needed for our stay--a roomy house with a great screened in gazebo and plenty of activities for our elementary school aged kids. “As many reviewers say, Smith Island is not a hot spot teaming with places to go. We knew this when booking. We brought our cameras, our water colors to paint, books, knitting, cards.... we had a WONDERFUL time. The cottage was beautiful and had everything we needed. The host even supplied us with board games and bug spray. We walked the length of the island several times and spent most mornings with our binoculars and cameras birding. If you want to relax and can entertain yourself it is a……

“Perfect home for family gathering. Kitchen well equipped with all appliances and condiments. Bedrooms clean, with comfortable beds and linens. Beautiful views from the screened porch in backyard of Tanger Sound and colorful sunsets in hues of red, orange and yellow. Quick communication with owner. Would definitely stay again!”

“Even though the home is a little outdated with furnishings it was clean and had plenty of room. The property is large and you do need a car to drive to the beach area due to the bugs being extremely bad in the woods. We were not able to find access to the private pond to fish, the area was overgrown. Overall this was set back in a quiet location and no one bothered us. We appreciated the use of their home while we visited local family.”

“Peggy and Gary are wonderful hosts at the beautiful Riverside Lodge Bed and Breakfast which is sandwiched between the Honga River and Chesapeake Bay.
