Gooseberry Trailside Suites have recently been upgraded and offer a relaxing, cozy and updated place to stay while you explore all the North Shore of Lake Superior has to offer. This property borders Gooseberry State Park, the most popular state park in Minnesota, with access to the Nordic skiing and mountain biking trail system right out the back door. Guest can also jump onto the Gitchi Gami State trail for those who want to bike or rollerblade on a smooth paved trail with access just across the road.

With the close proximity to Gooseberry Falls and Splitrock Lighthouse, as well as Two Harbors, Duluth and Lutsen, there are year-round opportunities to venture out to go hiking, biking, skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, sightseeing, swimming and much more!

Great for groups both large and small, there are 4 - two-bedroom, 3-bed, one bath apartment style suites on the property that can be reserved individually or together for a total of 24 people. Lester Suite is carpeted and no pets allowed.

Each suite has its own entrance as well as its own deck with a grill and outdoor dining table. In addition, we've added a beautiful new fire pit area, for a quiet evening with smore's and quality family time. The sauna just adds to that North Shore experience!

Valentines weekend getaway
Everything was very nice but the reason I couldn’t give 5 stars is the bathroom. Only a pedestal sink so nowhere to put anything. Shower was even smaller than our camper shower. Personally would prefer nicer/bigger bathroom than a second bedroom with 2 beds. There’s no way 2 couples could share this. A couple with no more than 2 small children would be ok.

A family get away
December did not have snow, but we managed to enjoy some muddy hikes and beautiful scenery anyway. The VRBO was very comfortable. We arrived after 5:00 and it was pretty dark on the steps to our unit. Other than that, everything was very nice and we enjoyed our stay.

Way better than expected!
I had told the boys from some of the reviews. I read that “you need to bring a fan. There’s no air conditioning.” And I told them that it was last minute, so I wasn’t really sure what we would get. To all of our surprise, it exceeded our expectations.! Very nice. We were very comfortable. The awesome sauna the fire pit. Our only problem was a bunch of bugs. Mosquitoes had gotten in our room, somehow not really sure how but we spent a lot of time that night killing bugs and the people below us complained because we were walking around a lot and probably a little louder than normal trying to kill all the bugs, my advice would be to make sure your door is completely shut when you’re bringing things in or if you’re using the grill, etc. make sure you shut the door. Maybe next time we could hear the people below us talking and laughing quite a bit but that’s to be expected in a four Plex , we just talk amongst ourselves The place is very close to Gooseberry Falls, the pink rock beach!

We had a great stay over the long Fourth of July weekend. The property was exactly what we were looking for. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the gas grill was really nice for preparing dinner for our family. The location was awesome, right next to gooseberry Falls and close to two harbors town. Everything was clean and comfortable and we had a great visit.

Great stay
We had to come up for a funeral service and usually stay with family as we are originally from the area. We decided to get a VRBO for this stay instead and were very impressed by this place. With the close proximity to Gooseberry, we decided to drive over since we never made time to go when we lived here. Great place-new favorite!
One of my new favorite places to stay on the north shore! It was clean, high quality bedding, comfy furniture. Sauna was great. Loved the access to hiking right out the door. Definitely recommend. Host was responsive and helpful.

Very nice property!
Sauna was amazing and kept all the kiddos entertained during our downtime. Proximity to Gooseberry Falls was Awesome! Highly recommend the Rustic Inn (the pies were amazing!) and The Angry Trout (in Grand Marais!). Only issue we had was some downstairs neighbors who were quite loud til about 1 am. You could hear it all! But I contacted the manager, and it was not a problem the next night. Also, bring your own shower gel/shampoo/conditioner! Thanks for a great stay.

Beautiful property and location
Everything was great about our stay. Extremely clean and cozy. The fireplace and lake view were awesome. Great place to base camp in the spring while we hiked and looked for rocks. You do get a little noise from the adjacent units but it didn't bother us. Will definitely stay again and would recommend to others.

Sensitive smoke alarm
Smoke alarm goes off if you open the glass doors to put in a log , unless you open the windows and put a fan in the window before doing that. Closed the flue after our fire went out but a few embers later set off the alarm at 11:30. A big deal was made about closing the flue when not using the fireplace but it would take hours for every ember to completely go out. Probably poor circulation or misplaced location for fire alarm.
