“This is a cute house on the Fox River that has a log cabin feel inside. The living room and kitchen are very good size and the very spacious back porch is covered with a great view to watch the river flowing by. There is a nice outdoor table and chairs that is generous to seat at least 6 which is perfect for morning coffee or meals if it is raining as it did a little this weekend. We enjoy staying here and plan on returning next year.”

“This house was very nice. The pool area was the biggest hit for the family. Love the size of pool, the easy in and easy out in the shallow end. There are plenty pool toys and towels supplied. Hot tub was very relaxing. Kitchen and bathrooms have plenty of supplies. ”

“Good house with tons of activities to do, just in the house alone. Everything was well stocked and the bnb also included complimentary snacks and food which I found very thoughtful and kind. The host was even able to accommodate an earlier arrival time for me. My only suggestion for improvement is that the master suite's shower had a very strong/stinky smell. However, that's not a big deal and the stay was definitely a 5-star experience with all of the options and amenities provided.”

“Came here for our annual cousins weekend. Both the house and the location was perfect! You can walk into town and it’s a quick drive to starved rock! ”

“We had a family with three generations and it was perfect. Plenty of space to spread out and lots of space to eat in a well equipped kitchen. The outdoor space was great for everyone to gather and for the little ones to run around and play. I would certainly rent this again if I am ever back with my whole family. The housekeeping needs to pay closer attention to details. If the management wants to know about that please contact me. The pool that we could use was way to crowded with WAY too much……

“This cozy home was perfect for a long weekend for our family of 4. The loft spaces were perfect for our two tween kids. We especially enjoyed the screened in porch. The Harbor Inn community had a lot to do - pool, boat rentals, bike rentals, and the onsite restaurant had great food and service! We loved the location on the river and proximity to the state parks and Ottawa.”

“Great little house right next to the pool and fun restaurant/bar attached. We wish we stayed longer to be able to do more boating excursions at the marina across the street. We’ll maintained and the staff were so quick to respond.”

“This was a good place to stay. Beds were comfortable, kitchen and bathrooms stocked with supplies. The steps to the unit needed to be cleaned better. A couple of convenient outlets need to be fixed to work.”

“Starved Rock Retreat was the perfect spot for our low-key, relaxing bachelorette weekend. From the minute we booked our stay, the hosts were very helpful and responsive to any and all questions we had, even going so far as to provide recommendations on things to do in the area so we could plan our activities ahead of time.The house was absolutely amazing and had everything we needed and then some. “We enjoyed a wonderful girls’ weekend at this beautiful, historic home. There was space for everyone inside and a cute courtyard with fire pit outside. The location couldn’t be better with a quick walk to shopping and dining. We talked with the housekeeper, who was great and obviously took pride in the facilities.
