“We usually explore a city every year for our anniversary. This year, on our 12th year anniversary, we decided that we wanted to go somewhere where we could be alone and surrounded by nature. This was the absolute perfect getaway for us and we plan to come back with the kids!”

“We booked for a night because we would be in the area and wanted to take a day in the Shawnee. It's very close to some great spots in national forest. Definitely check out Bell Smith Springs if the weather cooperates. The camper is on the same property as the host's winery and he was on-site at the winery during business hours and happy to answer questions about the area and property. We took advantage of the grill and little fishing pond when we got back for the forest.”

“Everything about our stay was absolutely perfect!! The house and grounds are even prettier in person! Eric and Jacqueline were amazing hosts and went out of their way to make our stay perfect! We will definitely be back!! ”

“Even better than the pictures. The cabin is an 1850s cabin that was reassembled on the property. It was adorable. Had everything we needed. The area is beautiful. There are several cabins and tree houses on the property but each has more than enough privacy from the next. We came with our two young daughters and they had a blast. We had a resident kitty that hung out on our porch, and it was the friendliest cat I’ve ever met! Kids were in love and had so much fun playing with the cat all……

“Beautiful property and super clean. The house is surrounded by trees, prairie grasses, and a farm field in the back so it’s really secluded and peaceful. Communication with the host was easy, friendly, and super clear. The hosts left a binder with a ton of helpful information in it. Even rainy days were perfect with the closed in porch in the back and covered porch in the front. Tons of space inside and out. The property is secluded and quiet, a great spot for nature lovers. We saw lots of deer,……

“This was the perfect out of the way place to stay! Had fires in the evening watching an array of birds, even a couple of owls flying around! Very quiet! There was even fresh eggs in the frig!! Well stocked kitchen!”

“My husband and I took our 3 sons ( 22 years old and twins that are 19). The cabin was perfect! It was very hot outside while we were there ( between 92-95 degrees every day but the AC kept up great and I was thankful for that! They have put a lot of wonderful touches and finishes on this cabin. It was very clean and comfortable. We loved the son porch that overlooked the river. We also loved the fire pit in the evenings. The cabin was even better in person than in photos. The mercantile store……

“Second time staying here. We love how close you are to all kinds of hiking trails, and being able to come back after a long day of hiking and relax in the hot tub. ”

“We loved staying in the tree house. We came with our twin 19 year old daughters and while it was small there was plenty of room and beds were very comfortable. I think the expectation should be camping with very dry, comfortable enclosure air conditioned, heated and indoor plumbing! ”

“We came here for a weekend visit to check out the Shawnee National Forest area and had the best time! The cabin was in vlose proximity to several hiking areas, the amenities were great, and the cabin was very comfortable for what we needed. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area!”
