I understand that things can break unexpectedly, but the hot tub issue was only disclosed one day before arrival (and only after I asked about it). By that time, rebooking wasn’t an option. What made the situation disappointing was not the breakdown itself, but the host’s dismissive and rude response when I asked……

“We rented the cabin for two nights to be close to family friends who live in Pekin. It was the perfect location, very quiet and we really appreciated the outdoor space and grill. “The owners spent a ton of money remodeling the place and did a good job. We rented it for the holidays but the day before the cleaners noticed a problem and the owners had to call us to cancel our reservation. At first that sounds horrible, but it was not due to their neglect and had they allowed us to stay the result would have been less then great. I am thankful they sacrificed their income to make sure we did not experience a bad rental.”

“I had a great stay at this VRBO while in Peoria for my clinical rotation. The place was clean, comfortable, and located in a nice area. The host was a fantastic communicator and always quick to respond, which made everything easy and stress-free.The only small downside was that dish soap was the only cleaning product provided, but otherwise I had no complaints at all. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay and I would gladly recommend this place to others visiting the area.”
