“If you’re looking for peace & quiet, with the gorgeous Tygart River within 30 yards… this is the place for you! Host addresses minor issues quickly & efficiently & is super friendly! Grandchildren enjoyed the bunk beds & riding their scooters on road & bridge (very little traffic) … no cell phone signal but was nice to unplug & we could text with Starlink wi-fi! We truly had a marvelous time in spite of lots of rain. ”

“We would give this place 6 stars if we could. Amazing spot, close to all we wanted to do with hiking, off-roading, and great spots in Davis and Thomas. They even have a little basket with stuff for your pups which just made us really appreciate the thoughtfulness.The property is AMAZING! Creek, natural space, just awesome. They even have bundles of wood on site for 5 that made it convenient for fires at night.We’re going to be making at least and annual trip here moving forward. Loved everything……

“Came in from Huntington, wanted a place that was close distance for walking for food and drink. How could you go wrong with a name like THE ALE HOUSE? Relaxed in the apartment, walked to Big Timber had some libations and rested well. Though downtown, it was super quiet, clean, and very homey. Will stay here again! Loved it!”

“I booked two nights but we only stayed one night at the place. We could not stay two nights because the place was not cleaned. The master shower room was dirty, so I didn't even take shower. The water in the toilet was dirty, looks like no cleaning for long time then the water got nasty color. Dust bunnies on the ceiling fans. There were alot of dead bugs on the floor. Most of the window blinds were broken. I won't stay again. Not recommended. ”

“Unplugging from regular life for a week was great, nephew (age 7) went through withdrawl from the internet though. So many places to go hiking we were busy all the time. Going to town for groceries wasn't bad! The river was a bit cool for swimming, but was a grand adventure regardless. Definitely recommend!”

“GPS does not take you to the cabin. Use a real map or ask locally for directions. Cabin is just as it looks in the pictures. Had a nice dinner cooked on the provided charcoal grill. Plenty of towels and extra blankets were provided. Had a minor issue but help was on the way immediately. Will definitely be back again soon. ”

“We arrived at night to the cabin, trust the google map directions as clicked from the website. The key was in the lockbox as instructed and we were able to settle in nicely. When we woke up we were surprised to find an enormous green pasture behind the cabin with the river just behind the pasture. It was so beautiful! We enjoyed playing in the river, fishing, and chasing our dog. Mealtime in the screened-in porch was lovely. This week was a wonderful spring break getaway for our family in mid-……
