The area is a pleasant drive from the chateaux of the western Loire castles of Angers, Saumur, Chinon and Montreuil-Bellay and is an excellent base for exploring the Loire Valley wine estates as well as the waterways of the Marais Poitevin or Fontevraud Monastery. Also visit the town of Cholet or plan a day of swimming at the region's many bathing lakes.
