“We had a week’s stay at Orton Hall in Nell Gwyn Cottage. The front room and bedroom were comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped, but it all felt a bit dated. The grounds were lovely, but unfortunately it rained every day we stayed there, so we couldn’t really explore them. However, we did discover a chocolate factory in the village which we very much enjoyed, as well as a very tasty cafe for a full English breakfast nearby. It’s centrally located for visits to both the Yorkshire Dales……

“We had a wonderful 5-night stay at the cottage over New Year. It is small and cosy and set in a small village overlooking fields and hills. The sunrise in the morning is beautiful. The kitchen has everything you could need to cook meals and there is a large Sainsbury's about 10 minutes drive away to stock up on provisions. The Herdwick Inn is a great local pub about 10 minutes walk away (take a torch if dark!) and 5 minutes drive away is a llama cafe and farm shop, Basecamp. The main hiking……

“We stayed for two nights over the weekend with our dog. Weather was fabulous. Managed a couple of long hikes. Aira Force and Keswick nearby. The cottage is lovely and has all the amenities we needed. Parking spaces right outside. Quaint and clean. Would recommend!”
