“We are a big family and were welcomed with open arms. Hotel Balsthal is a charming, modern hotel with a rustic feel to it.
We enjoyed our stay very much and will definitely be back.
Staff is very welcoming to children and went above and beyond to accommodate our little ones.
It is surrounded by beautiful nature trails and old castles to visit.
I strongly recommend staying here!!!

“A wonderful hotel in a quiet, picturesque town. Excellently located for walks in the hills, just a couple minutes walk to the tram station and plenty of shops/cafés nearby.
The room was clean and spacious with coffee machine and fridge.
Staff were lovely and very helpful with organising guest pass and explaining how to access the hotel after hours.
I would definitely stay here again should I return to Basel.”
“This hotel is located in a lovely quiet neighborhood and still has easy access everywhere. FYI, when we arrived on Sunday, the tram #3 did not go straight to the tram stop near the hotel (Music Academy), and we needed to switch to the #3 bus, which took us some figuring out--obviously the hotel should not be blamed for this. We got just the right degree of attention from the hotel staff during our stay. Tall people may find the attic room we were in a little restrictive as well as the cabinet……
“Thanks to the receptionist Samuel for his excellent service and recommendations for local dining restaurants. All the staff in the hotel was friendly and helpful with personal warmth. The hotel itself is at great location, clean room, and free minibar provided. We had a wonderful experience staying in Marthof Hotel and will definitely stay here again next time when we come back. ”
“Hotel location is good, very near the train station. the service is good. when I request the additional bed in the room. they changed another bigger room to us. Even we have 3 adults and 1 children. They would not ask us to book one more room.”
"It is a bit far from the Basel train station but the tram number 8 can take you nearby, hotel host upgraded my room to a bigger size on top floor, while you cannot imagine it is a big hotel from outside, good bathroom with enough hot and water pressure, easy to reach most of the Basel old town attractions"
"I stayed one night in Basel. It is around 10min walk from the central station. The room
Is small but have everything you needed. I checked out early like 4.45am to get the 5am airport bus. It’s safe to walk to the central station. "
