“Perfect place for family three nights away with teenagers. We spent most of the days at the pool by the Casa Azul, lovely breeze, never busy, and handy snack bar for drinks and food right there. Its a little hilly so prob not the best for anyone with mobility issues. Ate breakfast both mornings at the Alfarroba restaurant. (Tip: ordering off the a la carte menu is better value than the buffet but that nay have been because we got the buffet one day as it seemed to be finishing up). Mini market on……
“Good base for the area, car recommended as limited options for dining in the local area. Rooms are great, cleaned daily. Pool areas are good, not crazy busy, plenty of sun loungers. ”
“We would highly recommend this hotel. We arrived earlier than check in time; they allowed us to use their amenities and pool while they readied a room. They upgraded our room to a better view. The pool was beautiful, clean, and refreshing. Though it was full, we could always find a place to sit. Staff were super friendly throughout the stay. Breakfast was typical of most hotels offering fresh fruit, croissants, cold cuts, cheese, bread, and granola. The surrounding area was full of places to eat……
“Had a really good time there with my family. I actually booked another hotel in Sagres, but with much smaller space and poorer infrastructure. So I cancelled that one, and drove back again to Balaia hotel. Again the room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. There was also an indoor swimming pool nearby. Hotel staff was nice and helpful. Not to mention that the price is so attractive. Definitely worth it.”
“Loved our stay. Was the perfect spot, quite enough away from the old town but very accessible when you wanted to go in. There are steps down to the old town so not good if your bad on your feet. Sometimes we got a taxi back and it was only 3 euros, bargain. I would definitely recommend. ”
“Staff were all very helpful and polite, good choice of places to eat and drink within the premises also nearby restaurants just outside, well stocked market within the grounds, lovely place and look forward to visiting again.”
“The property is old, but in good condition.
Doug and Jao assisted me all the time and answer my questions about place.
Yeah, also i picked this place for the wash and dry. Iwas able to take care of mt laundry. ”
"We stayed at Opus One Hotel for three nights. The location is excellent—close to the train station and an easy walk to the city center. Our room was spacious, bright, and clean, with a large balcony perfect for relaxing. The host was friendly and very helpful—he provided us with a power adapter we forgot to bring and gave useful tips about local restaurants and shops.
However, it’s important to note that this hotel does not meet the expectations of a four-star property. The facilities are outdated: the in-room safe was not functional, and the door lock seemed decades old. The daily breakfast was minimal and not good value, and there were no complimentary coffee, tea, or bottled water provided. Overall, the hotel feels much more like a small, family-run guesthouse rather than a true four-star hotel.
If you’re looking for a simple, well-located place with a warm host, this might suit you. But if you’re expecting the comfort, amenities, and standards of a four-star hotel, you may be disappointed. We suggest that the star rating on the platform be reconsidered to better reflect the actual experience and avoid misleading future guests."
"Hotel is conveniently located near the old town and mamy restaurants. Breakfast is delicious and the view on rooftop is nice.
Room is clean but the water draining from the bathtub is slow."
