“This is a great place for a quick stay. Very clean, updated and comfortable. Wonderful value for the price. There were good extras in room- Fridge, microwave, iron and ironing board.”

“What a gem! The incredible thoughtful and caring staff make this place gold. I stayed for 2.5 weeks on business. First, it's incredibly clean with no excess fragrances, very safe as they are up on a hill that dead ends to their property, and anything you need they try their best to accommodate. I really love that I could get wine and pizza for dinner so I didn’t have to go out. Live music on the patio on the weekends overlooking the Columbia was just perfect after 10-12 hour days. Honestly……

“It is a nice remodeled hotel, staff are very nice and willing to help anything. the only thing is the AC system is not functioning well, and the location is little off far.”

“Very unique. It's a step back in time. Don't expect modern resort but you will get friendly authentic service provided by local people who bend over backwards to fulfill your needs and interests. Dufur is a very small old rural historical town in, what some would call, the middle of nowhere. If you want seclusion and enjoy country walks or bike rides and meeting really interesting people the Balch Hotel is for you as it was for us. The people really are fantastic. Debr helped us with a sticky……

“Interesting experience. There is no on-site staff, but the building is in excellent (restored) condition. You let yourself in with the door code and then you’re on your own. The on-site restaurant is not operating, so we drove a couple miles for dinner. We made breakfast from what was on site. Thankfully there was no noise from the railroad outside. We’ll be back.”
