“The only two downsides were a lack of WiFi and cell service (only available in the main house) and no GPS. “We vacationed with our children and their families. The house was very clean and met all of our needs. You need to bring most of your food, as the only grocery is a small IGA market and a Dollar General. The local gift shop was awesome offering a coffee bar and baked goods along with souvenirs. The area is pretty secluded but very close to Snowshoe Mountain resort where we got day passes for swimming. Also, the historical town of Cass featured train rides and little shops. “The location alone is spectacular, particularly in mid-fall, though the boats are absolutely right that it's a cell phone wasteland. Fortunately the house WiFi can handle all but the most intense gaming loads (bandwidth is great but satellite-level pings) and has plenty of TVs board games, and other pastimes for those seeking a digital detox.
