“Lovely weekend away, enjoyed our stay at the Homestead, Maria and Kevin were fantastic hosts. Melling is very quiet so you will need to drive to a shop/pub, that said we did walk to the pub, 45 mins. Definitely recommend and were made very welcome in their beautiful home.”

“Clean, comfortable rooms but quite cosy. The pub is on the busy A65, so it can be quite noisy, even at the back. Very little choice for vegetarians/vegans, especially if you don't like fake meat. Although the kitchen did agree to do the mushroom salad which is normally only on the lunchtime menu for dinner, which was nice. Some fruit at breakfast would have been nice, but there was tasty bread. ”

“Easy to find. Staff friendly. Although the room felt tired it was clean comfortable and had everything you needed, however as a light sleeper a blackout blind would be welcome. We had a evening meal was absolutely delicious and we would recommend. Would stay here again”

“Room was quite big which was great. Had all we needed. The condition was tired and bathroom is in need of an update. Wobbly tap, mildew surround, tiles coming off. Shower pressure was good. Two beds in the room, one mattress was fine, the other you could feel the springs. Dismantled it to add the spare quilt under the sheet for comfort and found stains on the mattress cover. There was a dirty towel left on the back of the door and a coffee cup lid behind the chair-more care needed when cleaning……

“What a lovely place to stay, quality room nicely decorated confortable, clean, run by nice people, great breakfast. Who definitely reccomens and will go back”

“Ignore the reviews. Yes it's a 2 star hotel. And Yes it needs work doing to it. It was like a hotel that time forgot. Breakfast was basic full English. I dont eat meat so wasnt a problem I had eggs on toast and fruit if i wanted it. We found it charming, had character. The couple were lovely. Mrs Gamble couldn't do enough. Was like being at my Grandma's house. Thank you Mr and Mrs Gamble”
