Maverick, the hotel front desk concierge, was very friendly and patient with us. He welcomed us on our first day and answered all of our questions. Maverick arranged all our tours with Andy for the night tour and Abel for the morning boat tour. Both did a fantastic job, but especially Abel, who went above and beyond on the wildlife tour. “Unfortunately I was unable to enjoy a stay at the Casa Grande. There is no road to the place, i.e. they have to pick you up by boat. I sent an e-mail, left two WhatsApp messages and tried calling 4 times, all to no avail. Even 2 days later I have not heard from them. I ended up in Parismina without any recourse to get to the place, and so I had to find a different accommodation there. Very unfortunate. “The friendly owner showed pride in the condition of his few cabins and was very helpful in showing us some birding areas. We also went on a trip looking for a specific bird as well. I had nice view from the private deck of the furthest cabin. The wifi was a bit spotty in a rain storm but I suspect most people have full time data on their phones. It was a good comfortable accommodation for a very reasonable price with tv and hot water and low cost meals were available if needed. Lots of birds on……

“Chef Fran was truly a fantastic cook. The meals were the best we had all of our two weeks of travel in Costa Rica. The location was beautiful and so was the architecture. We felt a bit constrained by the three meals being included in the price of our room. Other than that, everything about the hotel was phenomenal.”
