If you're looking for a cozy mountain getaway close to ample outdoor recreation, look no further than Almost Off the Grid. This cabin presents all the comforts of home, with the roomy floor plan offering a spacious bedroom and bathroom on each floor.

Gather for conversion in the open-concept living space, detailed with vaulted ceilings, plush furnishings, and a full kitchen with all you need to create your favorite meals. When it’s time to dine, the table seats four. One of the bedrooms provides a desk, while the second bedroom has a sitting area with a flatscreen TV. Start your mornings with a cup of tea on the deck. When you want to explore, a wide array of attractions can be found within a scenic drive!

Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). The Damage Waiver covers you for up to $3,000 of accidental damage to the Property or its contents (such as furniture, fixtures, and appliances) as long as you report the incident to the host prior to checking out. The Damage Waiver fee eliminates the need for a traditional security deposit.

Inaccurate listing in Woodland Park

Our customer service was MINUS 1. We communicated on Friday- requesting towels (we were booked for five nights, four people, no laundry facilities) we had be provided 6 towels only. We reported ants and was told to find spray and spray them. I had reported them because we had noticed traps were ineffective. We had a staircase that didn’t meet standards. Our friend is six foot tall and ducked to go down them on the turn. Our feet hung off the risers. The staircase turned mid point. The staircase was about 24 inches wide and steep. But the lighting and no handrails became the major problem. the The staircase was lit by a flood light on the top half but at the turn the light became inefficient— the light switch for the bottom half was on the wall at the bottom of the staircase— a member of our party missed the bottom stair trying to locate that switch and fell bruising his hip and upper foot. There was no handrail at all. These steps are dangerous & in our home state would not meet code. The cabin was in a nice sitting with neighbors close by but not too close. The drive was even tougher than described. We had NO laundry facilities but thought we’d read that there was — there was a place for them (plumbing and electric) in the basement bedroom area. All in all while the cabin was pleasant to look at it was dangerous to stay in because of the staircase. We Are NOT recommending this cabin.

Mountain “staycation”

We utilized this cabin while our house (in nearby Colorado Springs) was having some work done. The area was nice but I definitely recommend at least all wheel drive to get there- if it’s winter, you will likely need 4 wheel drive. The beds are comfy and the kitchen is functional. There is no dishwasher or washer/dryer but for our shorter stay we didn’t need one. I liked how we could bring the family dog. There is nearby hiking all around. Woodland park is about 10-12 minutes away if you need a grocery store. We enjoyed going up the Pikes Peak Highway and getting out into nature for our hikes. Several parks close by for the kids. As it is in the mountains, ants were in the upstairs bathroom which scarred my young kids but both showers functioned well.

There was a snow storm. Very difficult to get to. Had to shovel ourself to the door. Snow was over knee deep. Came home one day and some random car parked in the spot we shoveled out!!!!

Beautiful setting

The cabin was beautiful and off the beaten path. Every morning there were deer and lots of turkeys to watch while drinking coffee at the kitchen table. Would definitely recommend staying there.

Updates Needed

Many updates needed: no tv on main floor, plumbing on main floor needs to be attended to as well as electrical. Bathroom fan on main floor needs attention. Would be nice to have refrigerator with water & ice maker. Stairs to lower level are hazardous. Better bug management needed. Quite a few bugs inside. Pictures of cabin are very deceiving.

Cabin is lovely. Road access is dicey, but that's ok. INTERNET was a disaster. We got a heads-up TWO DAYS before check-in that internet was slow (an understatement). Streaming TV was advertised - not possible. Our trip was a combo pleasure/business. Business part was in the toilet. Had we known this beforehand we would have cancelled. Please don't misrepresent this property in the future.

Find somewhere else.

We were instantly disappointed in this home upon arrival. We had to stay the first night of our reservation as we had no where else to go, however we left the next day. All of our communication attempts went totally unanswered - I still have not heard back from ANYONE at all. The home appeared clean at first glance, however upon closer observance it was not. The kitchen cabinets were covered in gross oily sticky residue. None of the cookware was clean. There were clumps of dust bunnies underneath furniture. There are what appears to be several pet stains all over the place. This home is “pet friendly”, that is one of the reasons we booked here, however old untreated pet stains are unacceptable and frankly disgusting. The home is in massive need of a deep cleaning, and more effort should be made for cleaning between guests. The listing says 4x4 vehicle is required in the winter, however, do not book this without a 4x4 vehicle. I can’t imagine trying to navigate the final ‘roads’ to the home without a 4x4. The pictures of the outside area are very deceiving. There is not good area outside for any activity, and nowhere to take dogs. When it rains, the VERY muddy water washes right down and pools on the stairs, creating a huge mess you have to try to walk through. The surrounding ‘neighborhood’ dogs barked all night long. The main floor bed was extremely uncomfortable. These two issues combined made for a completely sleepless night. The final straw was when my husband stepped out onto the deck and a loose screw went through the bottom of his foot – it was not visible, when he stepped on the board, which was loose, the screw shot up out of the board and into his foot. This is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. To be clear, the home is nice, and has great potential, but there are currently MANY issues. I’m not sure what you can do about the neighborhood dogs barking all night, though. But the host should at least buy better beds, and hire a better cleaning service. And have the carpets cleaned. I don’t know how anyone would give this home a good review. Their standards must be extremely low.

Exactly what we were looking for - just outside of town so you feel far from city but it’s close

Only issue we had was that we spoke to the owner in reference to not having a four wheel drive and they said we should be ok and we weren’t on two separate occasions we became stuck after road froze over even our snow chains didn’t help - so definitely worth the stay because the cabin is perfect and the wildlife you see is amazing , however if you go during cold months be sure n take a 4 wheel drive

It was amazing with a crazy view. Seeing the wild life was the best part of staying there. There were only 2 problems. One was the cookware was not clean and two the downstairs smelled very musty. Other then that we do plan on coming back and can't wait.

The area where it’s located is really cute, we where able to check in and check out easily following the instructions. They have a lot of stuff in the house so you can cook and do your own things right there. However there was cat/dog hair all over the bed sheets on the first floor like they never changed them and I couldn’t find new ones on that room. Overall we had fun and the place is good to spend time with your family.

Neighbors are everywhere you look. And they are nosey. Could hardly enjoy our time outside with their barking dogs. Charged outrageous fees!!! Overall, disaster.
