“ I had a pleasant stay at the hotel. Staff were excellent—very courteous and helpful throughout. Check-in and check-out were smooth and hassle-free. The breakfast spread was truly excellent, with a great variety and quality. However, the room didn’t quite meet my expectations. The bedding, in particular, was hard and lacked the softness and comfort I was hoping for. Overall, a decent stay with standout service and food.”

“The dormitory is beautiful and probably the best I've ever been in. Had a Scandinavian feel to it as spacious and clean. Bathroom also spacious. However mostly male staff work here and they just walk into the all female dorms. One knock and they come in. Also when being cleaned through the day the doors are left open so rooms fill with mosquitos. You try and explain this and they can't understand English. Also no curtains for each bed so no privacy. Also serves meat at the hostel which I find……

More information needs to be provided during the check-in process about the hotel policies on hot water, cleaning and facilities timings to avoid misunderstandings. “We loved our three days in Eighth Bastion. The room was beautiful with a pool-side balcony complete with roof fan. Nice pool with umbrella shading, food was great, esp. breakfast dosa & pancakes, location is excellent, and above all, the staff are super-friendly and helpful.”

“Comfortable accommodation and well worth the money. One thing to note is that the place is a bit away (30 min walk) from the main tourist area of Fort Kochi. Not a lot dining options around the hotel either. However, you can take a bus or a quick tuk tuk ride to Jewish town or fort Kochi beach area. Good AC and ceiling fan. Windows with nets to prevent mosquitoes, fairly quiet place. Had a good night's sleep without fail”
