“The location was perfect. We fell in love with Castiglione de Garfagnana and the view from our accommodation was spectacular. We also loved the sounds of the church and cow bells! The accommodation was perfect for our needs. We enjoyed daily walks to the village for morning cappuccini and exploring the local villages and countryside by car. “La Lanterna is a modern 3* hotel located on the outskirts of Castelnuovo, about a 15 min walk from the town centre. It has a good public restaurant, a separate breakfast room and a swimming pool. Rooms are spacious and comfortable…my bathroom had a whirlpool bath. The staff were friendly and the food good. There were a couple of niggles: neither of our rooms had a working safe and the fridges had been removed, which was a pity. That aside, we enjoyed the stay, thought it good value and would……

“Beautiful house, amazing pool. Photos don't do it justice! We were a group of 2 families with kids (9 people in total) and there was plenty of space for us all. Great indoor and outdoor eating spaces and shady places to sit and enjoy the views. Loved the BBQ and pizza oven and we made full use of the pool and yoga deck. Jamie and Ailsa are great hosts and made us all feel very welcome. ”

“We were awe stricken upon arrival. This home was even better in person. There was one morning when there were low clouds in the valley and we ate on the patio seemingly above the clouds. The views were spectacular. The drive to the home is typical, switchbacks, tight curves and elevation gain. The nights at the main house were cool and comfortable. The pool was always refreshing after our daily adventures. There is a bathroom by the pool for convenience too. The kids enjoyed the ping pong table……
