“when we first arrived at Halo Homestay - we were concerned because it was not in a very nice area. We didn't realise how big Halong Bay city is. we were expecting sleepy little fishing village!! NOT!! there are 2 distinct areas 1. locals 2. tourists. This homestay is in the locals area. Its not a pretty area by a long shot but our lovely host Hien made up for it by taking us on a tour to one of the most beautiful temples I have ever seen. she gave us a free tour of her hometown and we felt very……

“I never write reviews, but I want to save others from the pain of this area. The staff was very unhelpful with everything. It was the first time in Vietnam that I felt unwelcome. They told me they would give me a ride to my cruise line, but when the time came they said they couldn’t. I then asked for a taxi and the staff told me they didn’t know where the cruise port was. I find it strange that a hotel in the area didn’t know where the cruise port was. I also asked how to get to Monkey Island……
