“Great location for exploring, food average and a bit pricey but the only place to eat in the village. Good sized room but not freshened daily. Heating on in hottest week.
Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Nice self serve breakfast with sausage and bacon sandwiches, cereal, croissants, fruit juice etc.”
“We stayed at the Golden Lion with friends as we were walking the 3 peaks on the Friday, we both stayed in a classic room, the rooms were lovely, comfy bed, hair dryer, shampoo and conditioner, tea and coffee and bottled water, don't forget to ask for milk before bed.
We ate in the restaurant both nights, the food was lovely and we had great service.
We had asked for breakfast the morning of our walk as we had to leave at half 6, unfortunately they forgot to leave out any bread or bowls for……
“Room was nicely decorated and clean. Great situation with lovely views from the garden. Staff were very helpful. The evening meal and breakfast were excellent. I’ve stayed here regularly over the past ten years.”
“The room we had was. On the top floor which j found quite a challange as I have breathing trouble . But the room was lovely and clean, bathroom spotless.
Breakfast was excellent and ordering the night before I think is a good call .”
“The room had a four poster bed and we had amazing views of the hills.
The staff were very friendly and attentive.
We decided to have our evening meal in the hotel.
We had the garlic and chicken schnitzel with gnocchi, and the steak and venison pie.
Both dishes were absolutely delicious and we recommend them.
Portion sizes were just right for us. We shared the cheese board for two which was very good too.
Breakfast was to order and we both had the full English. There was a lot of other choices……
“If you would like to experience living in a 400 year old cottage, with many original features, surrounded by so much beauty and peacefulness, then this is the place for you! I cannot recommend it enough.
Upon arrival, we were welcomed by hens and cats. We were then shown to our ‘living area’, bathroom and upstairs - a double bed and bunk beds. The hosts were so welcoming and helpful. There were so many extras included - books, binoculars, tea/coffee/hot chocolate/fresh……
“Been here many times before the new owners took over . Pleased to say the boys are doing a fab job . Decoration bought upto date without spoiling the old y worldly feel to the place . Dog loved it . He even had a bottle of doggy wine left in the room !! Will see us definitely again . ”
“Clean, comfortable rooms but quite cosy. The pub is on the busy A65, so it can be quite noisy, even at the back.
Very little choice for vegetarians/vegans, especially if you don't like fake meat. Although the kitchen did agree to do the mushroom salad which is normally only on the lunchtime menu for dinner, which was nice.
Some fruit at breakfast would have been nice, but there was tasty bread.
”
“So upon arrival the hotel had no record of our booking through Hotels.com.
Luckily they had a room available and gave it us for the rate id booked a year ago.
The room was large, nicely decorated. Comfortable bed. Large bathroom.
Breakfast was outstanding delicious.
The staff were lovely.
We had two issues. The toilet wasn't clean, had poo stains from previous guests. And there was no hot water from the shower. Luckily the bath was ok. ”
“Overnight stay. In the heart of Sedbergh, with public parking about 75m away. Food looked good but the menu isn't very adventurous so we ate at the Black Bull, just round the corner. This has a more upmarket menu at upmarket prices.
Not very convenient if you have mobility issues and there is no lift.
We enjoyed our stay and the staff were great. All in all, good value and we were not disappointed.
