“Clean, staff friendly. Perfectly fine except the thermostat on the radiator was broken and it blasted out heat all night. The only windows were high skylights and either it wasnt clear how to open them or they didnt really open. So unbearably hot all night. There was a tall fan which I had on all night so it seems the issue is known but not fixed. But for this I would have given 5 stars all round. No lift but thats normal. Suggested small improvement - some decaff tea in the room and some oat……

“Overall a good stay at Hockey House, friendly staff, excellent food and a good night's rest. My only concern is that a superior double is nothing more than a standard double just a slightly larger room. No chairs or stool to sit on just a bed, a table with drinks making facilities and a standard bathroom. I would stay again but would ask to see the room first before accepting it as my stay.”

“The soundproof was not good at all. During late evening and early in the morning, the footsteps from upstairs were SO LOUD. We could not sleep well due to the noise. The squeaking sound was crazy, as the guests kept walking. Sound proof of walls on the same floor was ok, not silent, but totally acceptable. Apart from the noise, everything is fine. The location is good. Not too far from town centre. It has a big car park, so perfect for a rest in the middle of road trip. Cleaniness is also……

“The approach to the hotel is not all that attractive, and without satnav we would probably have driven past. Car parking is OK, facilities are on the whole good, but a bit tired in places. Staff were friendly and helpful, room was large and nicely furnished - if a bit dark, with no main light; but the bathroom area we thought a bit old fashioned, and in need of a makeover. We had planned to take our evening meal in the restaurant, but it was closed because of shortage of staff and the need to……

“Nice stay, house is in beautiful grounds. Only complaint breakfast not good, scrambled eggs were terrible (1) not scrambled egg but some mass prepared egg (2) served cold. Ran out of croissants and meats at the self serve bar.”
