“Very unique. It's a step back in time. Don't expect modern resort but you will get friendly authentic service provided by local people who bend over backwards to fulfill your needs and interests. Dufur is a very small old rural historical town in, what some would call, the middle of nowhere. If you want seclusion and enjoy country walks or bike rides and meeting really interesting people the Balch Hotel is for you as it was for us. The people really are fantastic. “A good budget motel. Our room was quiet, clean, and had been renovated from its original 1970’s era roots. The bathroom was small and narrow, but clean and adequate. Beds were clean and very comfortable. ”
