“We really enjoyed our time at Starkhaus! It is an easy walk or very short drive into Sister Bay, where you can enjoy the beach, marina, restaurants, and shops. It is also an easy drive to Newport State Park, Ellison Bay, Bailey's Harbor, etc. In short, we were able to kayak, hike, see the Cana Island Lighthouse, visit the Ridges Sanctuary, etc. within only a 15-20 minute drive. Lovely! The home itself was great for a large group. We had 5 adults and 4 kids. The basement was a fun hangout spot,……

“We stayed in late Oct 2024. Cabin is older, but very clean. Was a bit chilly in the main room in the evenings (temps in low to mid 40’s); the heaters seemed to have some trouble keeping up. There is a wood burning fireplace in the main room which would have helped, I’m sure, but we were just there in the evenings and didn’t go to the trouble to build a fire. There is an electric fireplace in the bedroom, so it stayed adequately warm at night. The views were beautiful of the sunrises on Lake……

“We really enjoyed our stay. The house was clean and nicely decorated. The beds were very comfortable. We really enjoyed the access to the shoreline. We had an issue with the septic alarm going off and had to call the property manager. He answered right away and told us how to silence the alarm. We appreciated the quick response. My only suggestion would be updating the oven. We would definitely stay here again. ”

“The house was perfect for our family. Everyone was able to have their own room and bed. Plenty of room to eat. Liked how it was so open - between the living room, kitchen and dining room area. Having the backyard fenced in was nice to have with 2 little ones. The house was stocked with everything that we needed. The downside to the house rental was the flies. There were flies everywhere so when we were cooking, or eating, and they were flying all around, it was kind of gross. ”

“Cabin was very cute and right in the middle of the woods. Everything was clean and well maintained. Our hosts were very responsive if we had any questions. We would definitely stay ,again! Great ,trip!”

“Location to get around Door County is great. We hiked at several of the main parks around Door County, two of them walking distance from this cabin - Whitefish Dunes State Park and Cave Point Park (which was our favorite). Beautiful sunrises. Great beach - feels like you are at the ocean. The place itself is small and rustic. It’s definitely showing its age, but it had all the amenities you needed (and a lot of great memories for the family). Hiost was great too. We enjoyed our weekend……

“Had a great long weekend stay with everything we needed to be comfortable. The host was flexible and accommodating as the dates we originally booked had to change and they made the adjustment easy for us. The place was stocked with all the necessary essentials. This is not a place to stay if you want to walk around from. It’s a drive to get to around to most places but we wanted the privacy and we were okay with driving. Great stay. Thank you!”
