“We loved our stay overall. The place was beautiful and spacious, and the architectural details and lighting were lovely. There was only 1 bed, which was a little disappointing to our adult children. Other places we’ve stayed in Japan have specified if a bedroom had only mats, but this listing indicated beds in all 3 bedrooms. It was still a nice place to stay. I only mention this to suggest that the listing could be more accurate if it was clear that only bedroom 1 has a true bed. ”

“Lovely house and a communicative host. Quiet residential neighbourhood on a hill at the base of a shrine. Convenient access to Eastern Kyoto but a 20 minute walk to the train station. ”

“My Family really enjoyed our stay and it was a true Japanese experience. The living and kitchen areas are a little small but other than that it was great. Just would cook meals for a large group. The ramen recommendation just around the block was great. Loved staying here. ”

“Stayed here with friends to visit Kyoto. Is a beautiful house and great area for seeing shrines. Definitely in a bit of an uphill neighborhood though, so ordering Ubers can be challenging. Otherwise recommend for any travelers! ”
