“Es un hotel muy austero, pero corresponde al lugar en el que está, pues es una zona rústica rodeada de naturaleza. La vista que tienen los cuartos hacia el río, es bellísima. Ofrece servicio de desayuno incluido, de 5 a 8 de la mañana, y es muy austero lo que sirven. El agua no la incluyen; la cobran. Es muy buena opción para quedarse para el tour de Machu Pichu, ya que está súper accesible la entrada, es un lugar limpio y cómodo para pasar la noche, y está a un buen precio. ”

“Amazing shower. Best shower in my peru trip. Hot water is so enough. Hotel provides breakfast from 5:00am. It is perfect for the one need to catch the early bus to machu picchu. It has lift. However, the hotel is located next to the heavy river. It may be a bit noisy.”

“We decided that the word "gringo" in the name of the hotel could indicate European quality service - and we were right! A wonderful buffet for breakfast, friendly staff, fresh towels and cleanliness - a pleasant addition to the good design and location. Thank you, Bill & team!”

“Just a nice, clean, very convenient property. Some rooms come with a balcony, some do not. The rooms were clean and comfortable albeit with a few ants in the bathroom. However, you're in a hotel in a village on the side of the mountains so a few ants shouldn't bother you. The breakfast (included) was tasty and fruits/veggies were fresh and tasty. My only negative comment would be the runny scrambled eggs (but that's a personal thing! :-) ) If you're looking for luxury hotel, this is not it;……

“This review is not for Hotel Retama, but for Golden Sunrise. We booked Retama, but apparently the two have a mutual agreement whereby if one is overbooked you are put in the other. Normally that would concern me, but Golden Sunrise was excellent. Off the noisy main area a few blocks, in a charming building with well-appointed rooms, a good breakfast, and wonderful staff. So again, I have no idea what Hote Retama is like, but their sister hotel Golden Sunrise is highly recommended.”

“The staff were very friendly, they provided a sack lunch for my day trip to Machu Picchu, and the breakfast had great options (and coca leaves for my water bottle, for the remainder of my trip). Loved seeing the stars, moon, and mountains from the rooftop terrace at night, with the low light pollution. ”
