“Watching the sun come up over the lake each morning with a cup of coffee in hand, was breathtakingly beautiful! Bugs were not bad, and I pretty much lived in the screen porch. Town is just a couple of minutes away, excellent coffee shop and Mercantile. I regret not taking the time to fish, will do that next year for sure! Seeing a bear the evening before I left was a bonus treat!”

“The property was just as listed. Nola and Cal were excellent hosts and even brought me flashlights and dessert when the power went out!!! Chetek is a wonderful community with plenty of great restaurants and friendly people. I look forward to my next visit and would highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a cabin that is rustic and in a great location.”

“Very nice , small home on a beautiful lake.Boat dock was very nice. The deck overlooking the lake was wonderful. The kids had fun fishing from the dock, and getting in a canoe ride. The property sits down hill from the parking area and it’s quite a steep hill to trudge up with all your belongings. Older folks won’t appreciate that.”

“This was the second time we had a friend meet-up/getaway in the Gatekeepers Cottage... it is just so lovely and well appointed. The hiking trails are so nice to get out and enjoy the birds and lake views. We loved using the grill and fire pit, not amenities. You can sit and watch birds in the front porch forever. Ted & Lori are so friendly and attentive, a very warm and welcoming stay overall. ”
