“We only met the host at the of day 2, but he was really nice and we had a good chat. The room, while small, was clean and tidy. Having the breakfast stored in a cupboard, with different. We actually had breakfast at the Country Lounge on the other side of the river. If you take into consideration that the place was built in the 1730's, it was actually a very nice place. We didn't try the restaurant, but I understand it is highly regarded. ”

“Lovely hotel with a cute courtyard where we had lunch. Stayed in the large suite with its own lovely garden. The room was big, two bathrooms and nice big bed. Coffee machine and kettle with fresh milk in the fridge and fluffy bathrobes plus easy ample parking. The downside was it was quite noisy from the road, bifold doors across the division from bedroom to sitting room would solve this problem. Also could do with body moisturiser….none was supplied. Overall great hotel.”

“This is a perfect hotel. Everything is perfect. Loved the decor, staff, food melts in your mouth. And the housekeepers are amazing, in particular as most of the walks you will take in the area leave you covered in mud. I cannot recommend this place enough. Everything is impeccable.”

“This is a lovely cosy B&B. The breakfast was brilliant (smoked salmon plus home made marmalade) and service excellent too. My room was very spacious, one small point - the bathroom was so hot, even though I turned off the towel rail socket the rail was still roasting. I can really recommend for business stays around Corby. I'd love to bring my wife here for a short stay to explore Rutland. ”

“Our Friday night stay was great. Oakham is a lovely village to visit and the Admiral Hornblower was welcoming. As expected in an older building there was stair access with low ceilings and creaky floorboards, but this all added to the charm. If you're a light sleeper, I'd suggest earplugs, given you're above a pub and also street noise. Breakfast was relaxed and a great choice and the service was excellent. “Relaxing stay with my colleagues over two days midweek. We chose this hotel because it was in the middle for three of us to meet and it had good reviews. We were not disapointed with our choice as the staff and their service was excellent, the option to have a meeting while having afternoon tea was also a cherry on the cake. “Hotels.com didn’t make me aware that the hotel was closed, the owners of the hotel were not expecting guests, as they were refurbishing the hotel, fortunately the hotel owners were great and arranged a room for me to stay. The hotel is in a good location to explore Rutland Water, I would be happy to stay again but wouldn’t book through Hotels.com”
