“I arrived at the Chantry Hotel just after midday. The proprietor was happy for me to check-in straight away. He was also happy for me to leave my car there for a couple of hours after I’d checked out the following morning. The hotel was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast was first class. My room was on the second floor - the second set of stairs was a little narrow but fortunately I didn’t have much luggage for my overnight stay so it wasn’t a problem for me. I would definitely stay……

“The property was tastefully furnished which reflected its historical past. There was a spacious sitting room for use by guests and a kitchen equipped for the heating and simple cooking of meals. The tasty breakfasts were cooked to order with locally sourced ingredients. There was a small but pleasant garden with suitable seating areas. The staff were always welcoming, helpful and friendly. It was an easy 12 minute walk into the cathedral area and town. We had a very comfortable stay although……

“Welcoming friendly team, plans had changed and received a free upgrade which was great. Spacious clean room with good facilities. Well equipped gym and nice size pool are available to use. Hotel was very good service abs facilities. Regretted eating in the restaurant for dinner. Restaurant managers customer service questionable and main meal was not at the quality we would have expected for 2 AA rosette restaurant, hot breakfast also basic. ”

“I have stayed in the hotel for several time and always enjoy it. A great hotel if you want to visit the city. I never try to dinner but the breakfast is superb. Also a nice bar which provides great selection of drinks”

“Low stress overnight trip. We took a chance on an early check in and the team were calm and relaxed and were very helpful, we booked breakfast which was superb value and utterly delicious- great veggie breakfast and good coffee and extras available. We stayed in a lodge room, which was perfectly adequate- comfy bed and free WiFi. A few areas to improve from a decorative point of view but a good value and relaxing stay. ”
