“We loved our stay at the Ancient Gatehouse. The room was lovely and looked out over the green in front of the Wells Cathedral. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the hotel has an excellent Italian restaurant, where we enjoyed a delicious dinner before walking around the lovely town of Wells. Americans should know it is not air conditioned, but air conditioning is rare in the UK and Europe. There is a fan and lovely large windows. We will definitely return.”

“I recently stayed at The Lion for two nights with my husband and toddler. We booked The Bakery Suite (Quadruple on Hotels.com) which had a seperate living area which was ideal for us. Check in was swift and we found all the staff throughout our stay to be friendly and accommodating. We ate dinner in the restaurant the first night and opted for the roast beef. I always find roast dinners disappointing if the are not home cooked but this was honestly the tastiest roast I have ever had at a……
