“I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The services are as described, the breakfast options are extensive and my room is spacious and clean. I appreciated the fact it is located within walking distance to the centre, but away from any noise to ensure a quiet night's sleep. If I'm in Dorchester again, I would certainly stay again. Highly recommended.”
“The hotel was welcoming and the room was spacious, and comfortable, if a little stuffy. It was at the top of the building and the windows would only open a little. The room would have been less stuffy had the windows been opened before we arrived, and the blinds drawn. It was clean, and the linen was all good.
All in all, a pleasant stay.”
“Let down by small things! I'd stay at the Old Ship again. Switched room mid-stay at venue's request, but I was okay with that. Comfortable beds and great linen. Both rooms were freshly painted and had been thoughtfully decorated.. However, neither bathroom had a shelf - awkward - and one room had only an overhead light. Extra lamp could not be provided on request. No iron was available. More seriously, my second room could only be secured from the inside, meaning the room was not secured if I……
“Lovely host, beautiful house and a great, comfortable room with a lovely costal view.
Breakfast was fantastic with a lovely Garden view. Can't wait to stay again.”
“Beautiful B&B in a lovely village - walkable to local grocery store and 2 pubs/restaurants. The rooms are beautifully furnished and bathroom modern and with a bathtub which was most appreciated at the end of a long day of travel”
“The staff at the hotel went above and beyond, the service was impeccable. The hotel itself was beautiful, inside and out, and the food was wonderful. We really couldn’t have asked for more. Definitely going back soon!”
“The Smugglers Inn was delightful. The staff were all extremely friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Food was excellent, we had dinner there which was really good (advise booking it was full when we were there), and breakfast was great. Delicious choice of different fresh croissants, and fruit and cereal options. Full menu with lots to choose from for cooked breakfast, we had the full english which was scrummy and filling.
Room was really nicely decorated, and everything you needed. Big……
“Fabulous stay for girls weekend! Lovely setting with wonderful walking trails that only require a moderately hard climb up. The room had a terrace that was perfect for a cup of tea and a rest. The restaurant was very good with a wonderful breakfast and dinner menu. You should pay ahead for parking, but the lot is just over the square from the hotel, so very convenient. Would most definitely stay again!”
“Perfect place to stay for a weekend, we stayed for two nights (Couple and a dog) in a Standard room. Super close to everything in Lulworth Cove and West Lulworth and very easy to get to via Train from London to Wool and a short bus journey to Lulworth Cove. The service was incredible and very friendly, welcoming and accommodating, offering guidance and advice on things to do and places to visit.”
“Could not fault this pub/hotel. Friendly welcome on arrival, a great pint at the bar and a super comfy bed! Continental breakfast was good and healthier than the usual fry-up. Will definitely be back! 😎”
“Shower no hot water first day then for the other two days water warm but not not much above a dribble. The food and the restetaunt were excellent as were the staff. The bedrooms need an upgrade.”
“It is challenging to find a perfect hotel in smaller towns in Europe. But everything about The Boutique hotel surpassed our expectations. The room, location and access were of course great. But what made the stay so good was the personalised attention we received from the owners. On the day of our check-in, we were informed on the phone that as it was election day we had to get there by 6pm to let the staff go out to vote. But even though we were a bit late due to traffic, they were gracious……
“This a delightful if very remote pub with a superb restaurant in a quintessential little Dorset village. Highly recommended for foreign tourists who want a genuine English pub experience.”
