“The manager was amazing! He opened the bar for us and waited on us promptly! When guests came in the front door he helped them immediately! He is very good at his job and went above snd beyond to make sure we had a great stay!”

“We have stayed at the Elkader Jail House many times and the Harstad Suite is a great room for the 4 of us. The large kitchen and family space on the first floor provide plenty of space for everyone to get together and relax. Its nearby my family and takes the stress off anyone needing to make space for all of us to sleep. Its comfortable, clean and an easy to walk downtown. We'll be back soon!”

“This unique place has it all: charm, class, comfort, beauty, and fun. When you first walk in, you are greeted with a gorgeous staircase leading to most of the rooms. Our room was spacious, with a luxurious bathroom. The gourmet kitchen is equipped for anything and everything with seating for eight. The adjoining dining room has a large table with additional seating and windows lining two walls. And clean! This VRBO was impressively clean! I have to say the jail was a little eery after dark, but……

“We always enjoy our stay at the Jailhouse Inn. The only request I would have would be updated/new mattresses and an actual headboard for the bed in the Emma Big Bear suite. It's always clean. The shower is wonderful. Tidying up before leaving is never a problem. Thank you.”

“The property was lovely. We wish there was better ventilation in the cell block for those who had to stay in those cells. Those that slept in there were a little warm. We wish the shuffleboard table was up and working. But overall it was a great experience.”

“This is a quiet place to stay in the heart of downtown Elkader. Roomy with a sitting room and dining area in addition to the bedroom. The bathroom could be larger or offer more space for getting ready as the sink is very small with no counter. ”
