“This is a lovely cosy B&B. The breakfast was brilliant (smoked salmon plus home made marmalade) and service excellent too. My room was very spacious, one small point - the bathroom was so hot, even though I turned off the towel rail socket the rail was still roasting. I can really recommend for business stays around Corby. I'd love to bring my wife here for a short stay to explore Rutland. ”

“We only met the host at the of day 2, but he was really nice and we had a good chat. The room, while small, was clean and tidy. Having the breakfast stored in a cupboard, with different. We actually had breakfast at the Country Lounge on the other side of the river. If you take into consideration that the place was built in the 1730's, it was actually a very nice place. We didn't try the restaurant, but I understand it is highly regarded. ”

“Our Friday night stay was great. Oakham is a lovely village to visit and the Admiral Hornblower was welcoming. As expected in an older building there was stair access with low ceilings and creaky floorboards, but this all added to the charm. If you're a light sleeper, I'd suggest earplugs, given you're above a pub and also street noise. Breakfast was relaxed and a great choice and the service was excellent. We ate dinner locally but the restaurant looked inviting and beer garden shined on a……

“Hotels.com didn’t make me aware that the hotel was closed, the owners of the hotel were not expecting guests, as they were refurbishing the hotel, fortunately the hotel owners were great and arranged a room for me to stay. The hotel is in a good location to explore Rutland Water, I would be happy to stay again but wouldn’t book through Hotels.com”

“After we upgraded our room, we were much happier and it had a view of the lake. The initial room was supposedly with a courtyard view but there wasn’t one and it was so cramped. We had a lovely stay. The meals were good and the staff very helpful and pleasant ”

“Lovely old pub with an accommodation block at the rear. Further investment would return this place to it's obvious former glory, but for the price we paid we were pleasantly surprised with the quality we received and would absolutely stay again. Interesting plumbing, seemingly hot water from both taps (?!?) only added to the fun. Lovely service, brilliant Indian food, great location. The village is well worth a stroll around. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay.”
