“We booked a room, showed up before checkin time and they were not operating yet for the season. Mistakes happen, so we weren’t too upset as we found a nearby room at Hotel Portobello . The groundskeeper told us to get a refund thru Expedia. Expedia contacted the hotel, the hotel denied our refund. They said we didn’t cancel within the cancelation time frame?? This place is such a scam. I do not recommend unless you want to risk losing your money. ”

“Ok, you have to visit this place!!! Its a renovated 1921 winery manor house on a hill in the country! Our warm and welcoming host, Antonio used a translation app to speak ti us. Because the property is in the middle of nowhere i asked about dunner, he then asked about our dietary requirements etc. when we arrived he said dinner would be st 8. Fair enough, when we came down at 8 he had an un-corked breathing bottle of his red wine , and a HUGE spread of Anti-pasto. Crusty fresh bread, 5 or so hot……

“This hotel was not my first choice. It was the only place with accommodation during the period of my visit. Expedia and the hotel web site state check-in is at or after 4:30PM. When we arrived, there was no staff on site. We had to call and wait for people to arrive to check us in. The only time there was "front desk" staff was when someone telephoned for them. “This property is not only beautiful but also spotlessly clean. Te owner Luisa met us with the key and was very gracious. When she found out that I was in the area doing family research she immediately called her son to take us to the office and apply for the documents while the office was open. Luisa also gave us many options to restaurants, and places to visit in the area. The farm to table breakfast was wonderful. More then most hotels we stayed in.
