“Nice hotel, restaurant and bar with very friendly staff”

“Lovely place to stay. Excellent service. The host was lovely and informative about the area. Room was a little tired but very comfortable. Only niggle really was the pigeon problem (pooping all over the car) but that wasn’t her fault. Would stay again ”

“Loved our stay at here, staff were very welcoming and helpful and patient with our young Vizsla dog. Ideal set up for staying with a dog, with rooms located opposite site of the car park to the cosy pub. Food was excellent. Definitely would come and stay here again. ”

“Great one night stay. The room was lovely and the bed was super comfortable. I also loved the breakfast hamper in the room - the hotel doesn’t do a formal breakfast, however a very good hamper is provided in your room with granola, dried fruit mix, cornflakes, croissants and apples. There’s also tea/coffee, and milk and yogurt in the fridge. I thought this was a great idea and it was all included in the cost of the room. I would definitely stay there again. ”

“We loved our stay at the Ancient Gatehouse. The room was lovely and looked out over the green in front of the Wells Cathedral. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the hotel has an excellent Italian restaurant, where we enjoyed a delicious dinner before walking around the lovely town of Wells. Americans should know it is not air conditioned, but air conditioning is rare in the UK and Europe. There is a fan and lovely large windows. We will definitely return.”

“Fabulous period property with so much charm. There were only a handful of people staying, including me, which made for a very peaceful stay. I slept well, and the rooms had great amenities. I would say the rooms felt dated, but this adds to the charm of the property. The evening food was fantastic, and there was a good selection of drinks available. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Check-in and out was a breeze, and gave me a great history of the property, an overview of the……

“A little remote, but in a nice environment. Nice and cosy, and run by a old couple. The only drawback for an overall top marks is because of the shower, although it is newly installed, it is difficult to operate and the water pressure is somewhat too low to have a nice shower. The worst part is the wall inside the shower cubicle is dirty but consider the old couple are working hard to run the hotel and also the nice letters restaurants, so it is not a complaint, just would like to point it……
