“Everything was fantastic, we stayed in Bayethe and the rooms were huge, well stocked and beautiful. The service from the Rangers, the housekeepers, The Lodge staff were all amazing too. “Our stay was incredible. Desmond, our guide, gave us some incredible sights and we were really lucky to see 4 out of the big 5 alongside various other interesting animals. The reserve is vast and there is plenty to see, the fact that there are various lodges across the reserve means even if you have a fairly quiet hotel, there are plenty of rangers out doing drives which helps your chances of animals being spotted and your ranger making their way there. The accomodation is lovely, a perfect room……

“Wir waren leider sehr enttäuscht von der Lodge. Die Anfahrt ist mit einem normalen PKW eigentlich unzumutbar und bei vorherigem Regen nicht machbar! Der Gemeinschaftsbereich ist sehr schön, aber das war’s dann auch schon! Die Unterkünfte sind deutlich in die Jahre gekommen und bedürfen einer Modernisierung. Das Personal ist bemüht, aber nicht sehr geschult und wirkt teilweise unbeholfen. Das Abendessen (in Buffetform !) war wohlwollend betrachtet bestenfalls durchschnittlich, das Frühstück……

“Tolle Unterkunft in Mitten der Natur. Ein tolles Restaurant mit wirklich sehr gutem Essen und Personal. Die Zimmer (Zelte) sind sehr süß und bieten alles was man braucht. Man muss aber beachten, dass es kein Hotelzimmer ist, sondern ein Zelt. Es war ein schönes Abenteuer und wir konnten viel Energie tanken. Die geführten Safaris zum Addo Elephant Park waren ebenfalls schön, die Reisedauer beträgt ca. 30 Minuten. Wir empfehlen ein großes Auto für die Anfahrt mit Allradantrieb, da die Strecke sehr……

“Very beautiful historic property with great views & location. On negative side -large airy village units only have warmish water not hot - village units outdoor showers had waist high weeds - supper menus are 5 course set menus that are repeated & are expensive for quality - restaurant staff lacking management & training - receptionists could do hostessing/oversight at meal times & spot checks on housekeeping/condition of units and gardens to support and train staff but do not - lack of comfy……

“We felt the on site restaurant could have offered more selection especially on starters one of which stayed the same for 3 nights and the other was a soup which did change but it wasn't exactly exciting. There are not many other restaurant choices in the area. ”

“Mooie cottage gunstig gelegen tov Addo Elephant Park. Toegangsweg met ‘gewone’ auto uitdagend bijna 5 km over onverhard met gaten en keien. Uitzicht adembenemend, lieve honden op het terrein maar daar moet je van houden natuurlijk! Spullen wat verouderd maar alles aanwezig.”

“The actual hotel is really very good and the rooms are outstanding. Nice grounds, nice pool and the food was also of a decent quality. Now on a road trip around South Africa, you get used to warnings about safety and taking care of belongings. Here we were welcomed with a lengthy delivery on all the steps the hotel was taking and what in turn we needed to do, which even by SA standards appeared a bit alarming, so made you think the surrounding area must be a huge 'worry'.
