“Overall our stay at Medewi Bay Retreat was wonderful. Since this was our first trip to Bali, we didn’t have a lot of experience with the different areas of the island, and didn’t realize how remote this area was. We knew Medewi was a very popular surf destination and nearby to Negara, but other than that it is a far more rural/remote area than Kuta, Changgu or Ubud. “We had an excellent stay at the three-bedroom villa. The house is better in reality. It is very spacious and comfortable, well furnished, and the pool area is really pleasant bordering rice fields. The property manager and staff are very helpful. The only minus is the beach, which is quite unusable due to rubbish. You can walk on the beach but you cannot really sun bath or swim. “A beautiful setting along the south western coast. Small roads lead through a few villages to an isolated setting along the ocean. Villas are sturdy, comfortable, spacious (probably a bit more than necessary) and well equipped. WIFI works but a tad slow. The grounds, pools and public pavilions along the waterfront are quite nice. Landscaping is high quality. The rstaurant (The Lily) is very good and has an excellent small bakery attached.
