“This unique place has it all: charm, class, comfort, beauty, and fun. When you first walk in, you are greeted with a gorgeous staircase leading to most of the rooms. Our room was spacious, with a luxurious bathroom. The gourmet kitchen is equipped for anything and everything with seating for eight. The adjoining dining room has a large table with additional seating and windows lining two walls. And clean! This VRBO was impressively clean! I have to say the jail was a little eery after dark, but……

“We always enjoy our stay at the Jailhouse Inn. The only request I would have would be updated/new mattresses and an actual headboard for the bed in the Emma Big Bear suite. It's always clean. The shower is wonderful. Tidying up before leaving is never a problem. Thank you.”

“Fun and interesting place to stay. I would recommend replacing the American flag, as it was very worn and ripped.”

“We have stayed at the Elkader Jail House many times and the Harstad Suite is a great room for the 4 of us. The large kitchen and family space on the first floor provide plenty of space for everyone to get together and relax. Its nearby my family and takes the stress off anyone needing to make space for all of us to sleep. Its comfortable, clean and an easy to walk downtown. We'll be back soon!”

“The property was lovely. We wish there was better ventilation in the cell block for those who had to stay in those cells. Those that slept in there were a little warm. We wish the shuffleboard table was up and working. But overall it was a great experience.”

“This was the perfect little house for me and my partner to stay at while we fished the driftless area. The tiny is house is adorable and functional. It was clean and had way more amenities than expected - tons of towels, bedding, extra toilet paper, fully stocked kitchen utensils. There is a ton of storage. We didn't use the hot tub but it's private and has a nice view of the river. It was easy to go down the road and buy firewood for fires each night. Hot water on demand and good wifi……

“We imagined ourselves living here during our brief stay! We enjoyed our morning coffee wiith books on the front porch each morning. A deer walked casually up the road and into a neighbor's lawn, never-minding my coming in and out to get my camera. The home was very clean with added touches - coffe pods, bottled water, throw blankets, basic bathroom supplies. The beds were very comfortable and we slept well! “We were travelling for my son’s wedding.Our stay was fantastic. The home was wonderful, immaculately clean, with top-of-the-line appliances, beautiful great showers, furniture, beds, linens, etc.There are two seperate living room areas, which made it nice for the guys to watch their show and my sister, granddaughter, and I to visit and hangout together.A very nice deck with a Solo stove firepit, gas grill, and beautiful backyard.Our host Dustin was so accomodating to our needs to make our stay……
