“Our stay was very enjoyable. The property is very unique and picturesque. The small cottages with a couple rooms each are very quiet. The grounds are very old and beautiful. They are cobble stone and so not ideal if you have mobility issues. Food and drinks at the restaurant were excellent and breakfast had a good variety. ”

“Kind people operating it. The property has a great view to the Pico Mountain, there are multiple houses lined up on a small street. It's a very peaceful vibe. It's within walking distance (an a beautiful walk - nice village with flowers, and fruits) to a cafe/bakery, a couple of restaurants, and a nice natural pool for swimming.”

“The staff spoke English and were very helpful. The location of this hotel was perfect! If you want to see the stone arch, it is next door to the hotel. If you want to swim in the natural pool, it is on the other side of the hotel. The hotel also has a pool and lovely grounds. The breakfast is great, as well. Sao Jorge Gardens if definitely a place I will stay again.”

“I was confused about how the key code entry worked, and the office sent someone to help us right away. From then on, things went fine. The main reason we picked them was their involvement in science and research, and a tour we received was beyond our expectations. “Hotel do Canal is our favorite hotel in Faial. The staff are warm and friendly. The accommodations are nice and spacious. It is pretty handicap accessible and offers onsite gym, tours, multi-lingual staff, and delightful restaurant! We had dinner to which no detail had been overlooked and a great wine list was available. We also always enjoy a delightful breakfast with local offerings and general European cuisine. We already look forward to our return!”

“We stayed in the deluxe room, very spacious, clean and magnificent view of Pico and piers. Denise is very attentive and making sure we are well taking care of during our stay. Our room is on the 3rd floor of the building and there is an alley at the back of our room and we were able to park our car there and led us straight to our room. ”

“Staff friendly. Pool and spa facility very good all season. Good gymnasium. Food offerings limited but what was offered was not bad and price reasonable. Rooms need some modernization. Shower bath combo a little slippery, possible fall hazard. But overall ok. Good breakfast buffet. Views were the best in Horta. Nice bar area.”
