“Only issue was noise from above room. Obviously children running and jumping. Not good first thing in the morning and early evening. It meant that the room wasn’t a place to relax.”
“It smelt amazing as we entered, everything was so clean and looked fresh, The manager was so friendly and offered lots of information about the hotel, and made you feel very welcome. The room was small but adequate and the bed was so comfortable. Breakfast was amazing and nothing was to much for them, we were booked into a different hotel for our 2nd night but would of loved to have stayed her for that night, they did offer to try sort out our other booking but I had already paid that company.……
“Public area very clean and relaxing. We have stayed several times over the last 40 years and this is the first time ive noticed the building start to age. The room was comfortable with a view of the sea. However the bathroom door needs replacing as damaged and window sill needs sanding down and repainted.
Staff very helpful and friendly.
Ideal for walking into town and getting to the sea front.”

“Have just enjoyed a 3 night stay with a friend. Beautiful hotel in unique location in quiet South Sands beachy cove. Lots of ways to get to Salcombe town centre either walking (a bit hilly), hotel shuttle car or water ferry. Rooms have stunning decor and bathrooms are very well appointed. Service throughout the hotel is excellent and very friendly. Enjoyed both breakfast and dinner in the hotel restaurant. Good value & again great service throughout but with particular mention of lovely service……
“Booked a valley castle room w king bed for one night in late Sep. Room was very clean with comfy n up to date decor. Room was big enough and soundproof quality was good. Big garden surrounded hotel n we took a pleasant walk the next day. Should have stayed for one or two nights so as to enjoy swimming pool and other facilities. The historical building was well maintained. Very pleasant stay ”
“Unfortunately my double bed was 2 singles put together which was uncomfortable for my partner and me. We were disappointed that there was a window over looking the bed that had no curtain or blind so the sun came in at 5 to wake us up. Another problem was why wouldn’t you give guests a hand towel? After washing your hands the only item available was toilet roll. ”
“Staff very friendly, breakfast was fantastic, poached eggs done to perfection and lovely welcome gift of fruit and chocolate tart gives that personal touch. Really recommend I was impressed for the price ”
